A Note From the Northern UK Tropics

I can't let Dave's gibe get away unanswered. Crocuses, primroses,
hellebores all in flower here, obviously; correas, jasmines,
prostantheras, solanums, ercilla, perhaps less obviously. And nary a
touch of frost in THIS garden, sir. Remember we're sitting almost over
the sea. It does make a difference. I confess there's quite a lot of
that nasty white stuff a few miles inland. (And if I'm honest several
weeks of salty gales haven't done the tree-ferns or the eucalypts much
good, either.)

I reckon those ducks know best: if they're back, so is spring. Well,
almost...
