God bless the camellias which bloom in winter in my yard. Camellias are
from Asia and they bless all who enjoy their presence in the cold and
dearth of winter days here in California.
Now blooming: Chandleri Elegans
Ready next week: Nuccio's Pearl
So I'm not the only one with late camellias? Last year mine started to
show their colors in Dec and began blooming in late Dec and Jan. The
blooms lasted until the middle of May. This year I had tight buds until
fairly recently and no flowers yet.
I don't know the variety names. They are old double-flowered camellias
(one red and one pink) that came with the house. My neighbors (whose
camellias get more sun) have a few blooms but not many.
