Bromeliad? Sanseveria? Hard to tell from the angle that the photo is
taken at. If it were a brom, I would expect to see a bowl in the center.
Since there is none, I'd guess it is a sanseveria. ask your friend to take
a side shot so we can see how the leaves are arranged. That should clarify
the issue
