I am so thrilled that my Helleborus plants grown from seed are all
blooming. Seed received from Gay Klok who lives in Tasmania sent me the
seed in 1997. One did bloom last year but the whole row, planted under my
Oaks are blooming now. The Sunset Garden Book describes my plant as the
H.lividus corsicus, Corsican Hellebore, as leafy stems to 3 feet. Leaves
divided into 3 pale blue green leaflets with sharply toothed
edges. Clusters of large, firm-textured light chartreuse flowers among
upper leaves. .
It is really a bit tropical looking but seems to fit the shady area near
the lath house. Isn't nature wonderful!
I did divide a H. orientalis, Lenten Rose, last month, to share with my
U.C. master gardeners, Sutter/Yuba Counties, and some to plant in other
areas of my garden. Lovely plant I could become addicted.
