Besides Rhamnus, many swallowtail larvae feed on Umbellifers. Seattle has
lots of Tiger Swallowtails, and I believe the larvae feed on the fennel that
is a common weed here. Black swallowtails are partial to dill and carrots
(Queen Anne's Lace counts as well). Their larvae are interesting - they are
often brightly colored (green or black with bright warning colors) and when
disturbed, they inflate a brilliant orange double horn organ on their head
that exudes a rank smell to defend against predators.
