Nan, I am so glad you brought up cutting back lemon
grass. I put in one plant last year in May from a 2.5 inch pot and it
grew spectacularly. I have been pampering it through the winter by
covering it with a sheet whenever we expect a frost. I am left with a
plant that is brown at the top and green at the bottom - and I was
wondering what I would do with it. So I will wait as you
have recommended, John and Anni, and will either cut it back (or dig it up
and divide it) closer to April. Thanks.
I am not sure my African basil has made it through
the winter though - I keep testing the branches to see if they are still pliable
- didn't think it would make it - but I thought I would try since it grew so
large and was so beautiful all summer long and attracted so many bees - they
just loved it. I guess I will have to order more plants in the
spring.
Linda
