I grow many forms of ivy outside, all of which I have bought as
houseplants.  The selection in ordinary nurseries is very poor - they
normally offer only one or two types as groundcover.  The houseplants are
cheap - I buy the smallest size in thumb pots for about a dollar, and
they are all hardy here in zone 8 (Sunset zone 5).
