I just happened to be browsing the new Herronswood catalog, and remembered
the question. They list a Dahlia tenuicallis that grows to 8 ft, but "with
a propensity to blossom early and profusely" - meaning earlier than
December, I take it. And it certainly freezes there Not as tall as my 15
ft tree Dahlia, but if it blooms before it gets too cold . . . .
C.Carter wanted to know if tree dahlias would grow in the hills east of
Berkeley, where it freezes.
