Hmmm... curiouser and curiouser! I have trouble associating that scent
with lemon, but I suppose it's not impossible... Jane, did the source you
received your seeds from predict purple flowers? Or do you think you may
have the same mystery plant / L. viridis that I have? Roger, does L.
viridis have square-ish flower heads? [They're very noticeable on my
plant.]
Does anyone know where I can find a good picture of L. viridis? I've tried
a net search before, but no luck...
One way to identify it, and a good excuse, otherwise, to expand my lavender
collection would be to grow some candidate species myself. I am always on
the look out for obscure fragrant shrubs, but my garden is so small that
it's to the point where I NEED an excuse before I add new plants :-).
Roger, does your garden sell seeds? Jane, would you be interested in
trading? I've never heard of stoechas ssp. luisieri, so of course I'm
dying to try it! I have seeds of a lovely lavender to trade... might be L.
viridis... :-).
Thank you both so much for your time, greetings to all on the list, and I
hope everyone is enjoying the winter garden-planning season as much as we
are here in stormy Western Oregon :-).
