Re: Acanthus

There are also golden and variegated forms of A. mollis; the golden form fades off in summer to plain green and the variegated form seems unstable, needing constant roguing to maintain the splotches and streaks of chalky white. I have recently acquired a form that is reputed to be evergreen, provided it gets some summer irrigation, and 'Beth Chatto's form' which is very compact and ruffly.
