It is supposed to be able to take full sun (unlike A mollis) Maybe
though your plant just needs a bit longer to get established and put
its roots well down. I have found with many shrubs and perennial
plants that they commonly need some watering to help them through the
first season, but will look after themselves happily once well
established.
