Re: Acanthus spinosus and Watsonias

I have never
had the plant self sow in my own garden,(or even set
viable seed), David Feix
Here on Vancouver Island the thing doesn' tbloom- or at least it never has
in my garden- spinosus is a different matter, seeds quite well!
A funny story- I gave a spike or two of Spinosus blooms to a flower
arranging friend. She set them in the basement and forgot them. A week or
two later her husband saw a seed that had sprung away from the table where
the spikes were and thought it was a rat dropping- mnajor panic, much
cleaning of basement etc. Now I warn people about the 'droppings' and the
sudden noises caused by the seeds ricocheting about- people think there are
intruders in the basement.
All acanthus need summer water here.
