Dear listers ...
As members of a community, albeit a “virtual one,” we hopefully feel a
kinship and a sense of concern for all in the community. The recent
murder of our Medit-Plant group member Gary Matson hit me with a strange
kind of shock that has turned to real grief and sadness. Now that I know
some of the tragic details of his senseless death, and the death of his
partner, I’m even more disturbed and saddened. I didn’t know Gary beyond
his frequent, valuable contributions to this list, but his plant wisdom
was particularly relevant to me, because he lived in my bioregion. I’ll
miss him.
This death has generated quite a bit of press this week, for
