I started this plant from seed many years ago, it was pretty simple to do
and the plants did very well for years. I was an extreme novice and while
I don't remember how I started them, it must have been very much like I
would start tomatoes since that was about as much seed experience I had at
the time. I grew those plants (after transplanting) in a dry area with
only occasional water so indeed they might have rotted. They come from the
drylands of Australia, I believe, so are suited for dry, medit gardens.
