Rand - No need to take cuttings if you don't want to - S.p. has
tubers, dahlia-style, and can be lifted and stored in just the same
way - in a box of sand in a more or less frost-free shed or outhouse
or garage or backbedroom or whatever - just keep it dry until the
spring - then repot, water, and whammo! 

Equally, it grows so quickly that you can easily treat it as an annual
if you sow seed early enough in some heat - Feb. sowings will flower
in July, even in my climate.

(Which, this morning, is in fact just about my idea of Eden: mid-70s,
blue, bright-but-not-blinding, nice fresh breeze off the sea, and four
hours work in the garden done by 10 o'clock...)
