This poppy ,Karen, is, as Moira wrote ,a glaucium- Glaucium flavum, and you can see hundreds of them now in bloom, not far from where you live, on Mount Pendeli at 500m altitude, by the side road,on the way going to Aghios Petros.
You can buy it at Paragiou's nursery-in Nea Pendeli, where you can also find other small plants you won't find anywhere else-mainly natives and med-plants.
Glaucium flavum is a very easy ,tough and draught resistant plant-useful in dry gardens by the coast but also in much colder areas.

A_Yellow_ flowered poppy growing on the beach would surely be a
Glaucium. All the Medit Papavers I can find in my book (Just a book of
wildflowers not a proper flora) have pink purple or red flowers and
moreover Glauciums are typically beach plants.Atlanticum I know little about, but Harkness says it is dull orange and
comes from Morocco. It is also 1-2 feet tall, so doesn't sound much lke
your treasure.Glaucium must be a very widespread genus, as we also get horned poppies
on our beaches here.
