A_Yellow_ flowered poppy growing on the beach would surely be a
Glaucium. All the Medit Papavers I can find in my book (Just a book of
wildflowers not a proper flora) have pink purple or red flowers and
moreover Glauciums are typically beach plants.
Atlanticum I know little about, but Harkness says it is dull orange and
comes from Morocco. It is also 1-2 feet tall, so doesn't sound much lke
your treasure.
Glaucium must be a very widespread genus, as we also get horned poppies
on our beaches here.
