Re: swimming pool conversion

Title: Re: swimming pool conversion
My daughter and son-in-law just bought a very modest house in a very modest
neighborhood in Portland, OR. It has a swimming pool which they were, in no
way, looking for. They would like, when they have the money, to fill it for
a garden area. Demolishing completely would be the first choice but they
doubt they'd ever be able to afford to do that.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this kind of thing? I'd much
appreciate being able to give them some information.

Thanks--Barbara - in Berkeley

I did an article recently on a beautiful mediterranean garden where a pool had been replaced a few years ago.  Many pool construction/desctruction companies exist and the cost depends on whether you remove the pool ocmpletely or simply destroy it enough to fill and plant.

Here is the content from the sidebar for that article:

How to destroy a swimming pool:

I would suspect that a homeonwer could do some of the work to save money, but I would pay attention to whether they need city permits etc.

Hope this helps!
