Generally, any of the grasses that are considered 'tricky' are best
moved or divided, just as they are starting into growth during early
spring. This also applies to Bamboos.
Under normal circumstances, I would consider most varieties of
Miscanthus sinensis to be pretty tough and able to withstand a move at
almost anytime provided plenty of moisture was made available after
division.
I'm not familiar with 'Yaku Jima' and do not know anything about it's
vigour, so if you do everything as growth commences, you will not go
far wrong. No doubt someone will write to say you can lift it, burn
it and throw it on a compost heap and it will still grow! <G>
