Kurt, you'll be glad to hear that if you don't get that effect this
year, then you can be sure of it next.  I hard prune the 'head' of my
tree rather more than folk in milder, areas since the thinner shoots
become damaged in winter anyway.  This results in denser, more compact
growth.   If you are prepared to overwinter in your garage, just
lightly prune the head in spring.  The only thing wrong with that
Jamaicn one (IMO) is that the main 'trunk' is too short and not quite
straight enough.  I reckon they look best with a 5 - 6ft clear trunk -
that way you get to sit under them at night and allow that wonderful
fragrance to wash down all over you.  It really is quite intoxicating.
