Interesting. I too live on the central coast, but I live near Artichoke
farms (near Castroville, in the town of Marina). So, in the summer it's
never hot (well most of the time), and it's usually foggy also. The
phormiums here look good, i've never seen sunburn on any. There are a
couple of very tall phormiums in my city near an apartment complex that
look magnificent. The gardeners there always cut them back each year.
