Re: Lychees in Northern California


Here  in Kula Maui I can report that they do not appear to grow above 300
feet in elevation. I live at about 4000 feet and it gets down to the high
30's F in the winter.  Of course it is not as wet or as cold as San
Francisco.  There may be relatives or cultivares that may do well at low
temps/temprate areas, but I am not aware of names.
	The one tree that I know of up here that is at about 3000 feet in
elevation does not produce fruit every year.  May be a result of dry
weather, or cold winters....
