irregular blooming

OK, now I believe the weather has had something to do with the
unusual blooming of plants. It has been very cool, even cold, with no frost from
December 15 until right now. Roses that bloom early have not opened, even the
species. Acacia is just now blooming and it is usually open in late December.
Ceanothus is late. Some other plants have very few blooms on them. Salvias went
on growing and blooming forever. The oaks are just now leafing and the madrones
are going to be late. All of this is relative, I know. But it has to be the
strange weather (what other kind do we have?). Bill Grant, central Calif
