Surrounded by hundreds of the worst kind of eucalypts (Many
Aussie visitors ask why we got the absolute weeds of that family and ignored the
beautiful ones. The answer would require too long a reply here)I spent six
months clearing part of my property so I could build my house. Mistake. I should
have taken a year and cleared every bloody one of them. The only use I can
see for them is firewood if it is cut immediately and dried for at least a
year.I have a permanent supply.
They poison the ground for many plants. They have pushed out
many of the natives in my valley.
They are a horrid fire danger. The constant mess they make
with their leaves and branches. It is impossible to compost the leaves. In
places they are filled with black widows. Some of mine now have the lerp. If I
ever win the lottery, every single one of them will be removed.
N.B. I've been to Oz six times and seen many beautiful ones.
We ain't got none of them.
