One interesting note on Fuchsia boliviana and Fuchsia boliviana 'Alba'.
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, fuchsia mites are
particularly destructive on mite susceptable fuchsias. The nursery I
work at tries to carry only mite resistant fuchsias which means we only
carry species fuchsias and some hybrids which are somewhat resistant to
the fuchsia mites. Fuchsia boliviana shows very little damage from the
mites but Fuchsia boliviana 'Alba' is definitely susceptable to fuchsia
mites. Our two specimens are planted next to each other and are
constantly being visited by our resident hummingbirds.
