Re: visitor from Tasmania

Dear medit-planters
How kind you all are, the net continues to amaze me daily. Mind you, we all
know that medit-plants is the top email garden group, especially me. After
all, my country garden is an example of a cool temperate garden and the town
garden is only semi-medit.
I owe a good deal of gratitude to Sean. When I first got hooked up to the
Net, after the first few weeks, I could not understand what the hype was all
about . Then one lucky day, I stumbled into Sean [somewhere? I've
forgotten] and he asked me if I would be interested in a new email group he
was in the middle of creating. So much water under the bridge since then and
so much learnt. Not only about plants and methods of gardening but also
protocol and good manners. One of the biggest lessons learnt was that the
Net has no bias - no discrimination with sex, colour or age
This 64 year old grandmother and frustrated writer owes so much to this
group. I can now write and even get paid a little bit, boredom may fly out
of the window.
I apparently have not learnt to stick to the subject. A general thanks to
you who have written showing interest. Unfortunately, we are only in LA for
two days - arrive 27th June, depart 29th June. I hope to visit the
Arboretum, Descanso and Huntington. That should be enough for Kees to start
dragging his heels!
Your responses has made me wish for a longer visit to the United States some
day - she will be back but for now I must go and buy my new undies.
Our trip - Leaving Australia on the 27th May - Bombay [son living there at the
moment] - Paris for 3 days - Kees' family, Netherlands - Scotland for new non
medit-plant seeds from John Mattingley at Clune House and other Scottish wild
gardens - New York - Los Angeles - Hawaii - Home [what will the gardens look
like. Probably bad enough to puncture me]
Will the late Cornus be in flower at the end of June? Gay
