My 2 cents on visiting LA bot gardens...
The UCLA bot garden ("Mildred Mathias") might have a
collection that's more unusual to the Tasmanian eye.
Descanso has a rather temperate collection (Camellia
collection, etc.). Descanso's advantage is the old
oaks and setting at the base of the mtns.
