The most tolerant plant I know is a very small-leaved ice plant with light purple flowers. We got a chunk of it and put it along side of our garage on the "garden tool" side. it was never watered and got a little rain between November and February. Our sheltie slept on it. We had it for years.
I then took some of the cuttings and threw them around on a piece of our front lawn that never gets watered. It had done well for twenty years. If someone wants a picture of it I will take one and put it on my page. It is remarkably tolerant and takes care of itself, totally!
