I would have thought that Hawaii would be a bit warm to be optimum for
blackberries. Here in NSW, they are a great pest in the highlands and
tableland areas, but seem to be much less invasive down here on the coast.
I have feral blackberries in a couple of places in my garden, but they
hardly increase at all and I get few berries. I always assumed they needed
cool winters (frosts) to do well.
And even more so for raspberries, which only seem to go feral further south
in Victoria.
