Banana slugs are the mascot of the University of California at Santa
Cruz. Ive seen those slugs up close. Wonderful to look at, brilliant
yellow with a few spots (not sure if all of them have it) but it did
look alot like a banana! The yellow alerts predators that they are
likely to cause sickness. Way back in Elementary school we went for a
week long camping excursion up into the mountains around santa cruz.
Our guides picked up a banana slug and dared anyone to lick it. When
someone did, they reported their tongue getting numb. Anyways, banana
slugs are huge things, and actually the color makes them look pretty.
However they actually are hard to find in the redwood forest.
