Greetings from Italy,
My name is Lucio Russo, I live in Italy and last February have started a
new list in the ONElist community, called BotanyBooks. The list has
increased in size so far, and at present has some 200 subscribers.
BotanyBooks is a discussion list focused on books and other publications
devoted to gardening, horticulture and botany. Any subject having to do
with books on plants is welcome.
This is the list for gardeners, collectors, enthusiasts, bibliophiles and
researchers, and all those who wish to know about new books,
bibliographies, references, books offered on-line, authors etc.
Here are some examples of topics discussed so far:
Books on succulents, orchids, ferns, bulbs, palms, alpines, gardens,
botanists;
Book reviews
Recent subscribers' acquisitions
Bibliographies and references
Books offered for sale
Wish lists
Web sites of interest
On-line resources
New and forthcoming titles
The list is moderated in order to prevent spamming and commercial
advertisements. An almost-daily newsletter called BOOKNEWS is posted by
myself in order to inform the list about books (both new and second-hand)
offered on-line and in major bookshops that have a mail order service
worldwide.
Since many different interests are represented in the list, the best way
to introduce yourself is to tell other subscribers which are your main
interests, and which type of books and publications you are interested in.
A suggestion is not to give up immediately if you don't read soon about
the topics you are interested in. Start a topic yourself instead, and be
patient. If you don't want to receive many individual postings, the
Digest option is best.
