My spouse bought a propane torch that he uses to remove weeds from gravel
paths and to kill the fall-germinating annuals (Erodium, Bromus etc.) that
infest our oak woodland. It's also effective used in edging the lawn. It's
not a surgical tool, though--sometimes I'm afraid to go out and look after
he's been torching to see what collateral damage has occurred.
It's worked well as an alternative to Roundup and can be used in wet cool
weather.
Sounds like a jet taking off in the back yard, so probably not real good for
an urban setting.
