Compost

 
Good morning / evening,
Do you all have composts? I have recently moved to Greece and have been trying to start one. However, I get so many cockroaches in the compost that I am thinking of discontinuing. It is a closed compost so animals shouldn't be able to get in, but  it seems impossible to make it tight enough.
 
Would greatly appreciate any thoughts on this!
