if a mere "furriner" may intervene. Years and years ago I remember
reading (in National Geographic I think) about a yucca in Mexico whose
flowers were made into fritters by the locals, much as folk use squash
blossoms and day lily flowers in the States (and in NZ too!).
This Yucca was apparently extremely prodigal with its seed production
and the excess went to nourish a Yucca moth (which in return I think
first helped to effect the Yucca's pollination) so it was quite an
important part of the local ecology.
Incidently, I seem to have been gettign about the usual number of
postings on the list recently and replying to those which interested me.
However perhaps I am the one which some spam filters disapprove of!
