Bill,
It seems to be a very good year for many plants which
have fall fruit this year. The Toyons are also
putting on a very good show here locally. This is the
first year that the yellow form, Davis Gold, set a
good crop of berries in my garden, and I am enjoying
the show.
Almost all pyracantha grow so quickly, what is
stopping you from planting some now? It is not as if
one must wait years for the show... It does seem very
much a plant of the 1950's and 1960's, and is not
nearly as commonly planted in gardens these days.
