Hi Madelin, The structure is very DIY - a strong metal frame on which is mounted a 10cm deep cage made of the sort of metal that is used here for reinforced concrete, lined with chicken wire and geotextile. I used a fairly standard substrate mix of a peat based compost (shame on me but difficult to find alternatives round here) with loam and quite a lot of perlite. The whole thing stands in the angle of two walls (hiding the remains of a messy structure that has been demolished) and is anchored to the wall with six strong metal brackets. Gill m*@pacific.net wrote: Dear Gill, Can you describe the structure you built? Looks like wire mesh, probably on some sort of timber framework. What is the white liner material? What sort of soil mix did you use? How is the whole thing anchored in place? My mind is awhirl with possibilities! Madelin Ukiah, CANearly a year ago I posted a notice asking for hints about constructing a living wall in a Med climate; a number or people offered helpful hints - thank you everyone - and a number of people said that they would like to know how it developed. So, for your info, the mur vegetal has been constructed and is now installed in a local village. If anyone is interested to know more then see www.lapetitepepiniere.com - Garden News - Mur Vegetal.
