bending and anchoring rebar

Any size of rebar can be easily bent easily if it is heated first, But I
bend sizes up to #5 (5/8" diameter) by hand with a pair of "rebar benders,"
which are pipes about 3' long with a short piece of pipe welded to one end,
at an angle. There are various ways of anchoring, the simplest being to
pound a piece of galvanized pipe in the ground (a cap on the end prevents
soil from filling the pipe). You can fill with anchoring cement for a more
rigid installation. For pictures of what can be done with rebar in a
garden, check out my website.
