Re: Acid Rain or Mt. Aetna Fallout?

We are in Spili, Rethimno, in a mountainous area. But I have observed the
problem with the walnut trees in the southern Chania region (we took the road to
Paliachora.)

There were three rainy days in early August, subsequent to the "scirocco"
mentioned by Charles Butler. But by now I am considering the acid rain theory
a rumor misconstrued by the locals. Most probably, there was a "dirty rain" and
some blight or fungus attacked the trees, but there may have been no connection
between the two.

Meanwhile, my tomatoes have started to produce....are sweet, rather pulpy, and
unfortunately, susceptible to virus (I have lost my container grown plants but
the garden ones are fine.) If you want to experiment with seed, let me know.
