Nan,

Some daylilies are viviparous, and many of these are the most common
cultivars on the market because they are so easy to start this way.  Just
cut them off the flower stem when they have attained some size and begin to
form roots.  (You may be able to break them off, but I prefer to cut the
stem and leave a small section of stem attached, since I have found that
sometimes the base of the new plant will break off and remain on the stem of
they are too firmly attached.  This ruins the baby plant.)  Just stick them
in a pot of good soil or directly in the ground, and within a few months you
will have a new plant.  They may even bloom within a year.
