Brugmansias are big fertilizer
hawgs. My brother and I grow them in pots on our decks or under shade
trees to keep them out of our heinous valley and foothill sun. I often use
his method of fertilizing which is double strength Miracle-Gro every other
week! Now all you organic people don't go apoplectic on me, just get
your knickers out of that twist. That's just what it takes to
keep them looking vibrant in a pot. My biggest one I fertilize heavily
with Bayer's systemic rose and flower feed,(big blue jug) and that seems to
also do a good job of keeping the mites at bay that also seem to attack them in
the heat.
Chemically yours,
Karrie Reid
Folsom Foothill Gardener
P.S. That sign-off reminds me of
one of my husband's old drug days of the 70's buddy's favorite phrases:"Better
living through chemicals!"
