Sorry to be late in answering, I had to phone to the bookshop where I saw it.
It's : "D'autres arbres pour les villes méditerranéennes - guide pratique pour le paysage urbain de demain" edited by the CEPEM (Centre d'expérimentation pour la pépinière méditerranéenne)
The adress is : CEPEM

or you can order it at the bookshop on the net : http.www.librairieverte.com
The price is 50 euros.
I hope your son-in-law will like it, I think it's well done.

Hi Chantal,
What's the name of the book and its publisher, my son-in-law is a tree surgeon and landscaper near Perpignan and it would be very useful to him

I suppose you're living in Spain as you just mention Costa Blanca.
I'm myself looking for the same trees to hide a very ugly 2-storey building close to the house and creating my new garden. So I don't want to make mistakes before planting a tree for the life.
I've found a book (in french ) newly released which invite gardeners and landscape designers to plant new and uncommon trees in the south of France.
Some ideas from this book :
The problem is to find a nursery. I think that Filippi in Meze has the callistemon and myoporum.
- acacia iteaphylla : windbreak, support light salted winds and grows quickly
- callistemon viminalis : lime-tolerant
- cinnamomum camphora :lime-tolerant but you can't plant anything else under because of it's roots
- myoporum laetum : drought, pollution and salt tolerant
Interesting to know what the other people think about this subject.

Has anyone has success for reasonably quick growing evergreen trees suitable for the northern Costa Blanca for amateurs to plant?. We
need a couple of spaces filled up. Our soil is quite heavy as we are overlooking the sea but not right on the cliff edge. Mediterranean Pines grow well but I don't want cypress or similar. We are thinking about Californian Pepper Tree and Banksia. Any other suggestions gratefully received
thank you
Pamela Steele
