Re: propagating ceanothus

Grodan makes an entire line of rockwool-based propagation products (similar to Oasis but, I think, a little better).  These products are available at plenty of retail hobby shops and on the internet.  Don't be put off by the nature of these stores and sources -- their main clientele grows one very particular "crop".

Oops, I guess I was a little vague with the oasis.

These days, oasis is made for propagation in that each
cutting can be rooted in its own cube with a
"pre-drilled" hole already there for sticking the
cutting into. Sheets of cubes are pre-perforated (for
lack of a better term) so you can use as many cubes
that will fit the tray or flat you plan to use. You
can also find pyramid-shaped oasis, but you need
special trays to place these in. I don't have a
retail source since we order them by the case.
