We had to cut down two big ones, about 70 yrs old, a few yrs ago after they
were made unsafe by a big storm. Yes they are shallow-rooted, which is why
the storm was able to rock them. I decided to live with the stumps for a
while as these trees, not natives here, don't seem at such risk of
introducing noxious root fungi as our own natives. In the end we got the
stumps and main roots out with a digger/backhoe, as we had one working here
anyway, which was quick and painless. Why not get quotes for both stump
grinding and complete removal?
