Susannah, Your Photinia will probably stump sprout. To reduce the amount of herbicide needed to eventually kill the roots you should cut it down to nearly ground level in late winter, wait until it pushes up new growth in spring and then spray. Glyphosphate is more effective when used on young shoots. You probably will have to repeat the processs at least once for an old established plant. Deborah
