Re: Hello. Martin

Hello Gene,

I am a member of the Primula e group run by Duane Bell and look forward to Sunday
nights (over here) to join in with the Primula chat. As I said previously, main main
interest is with growing plants in the open garden. I do have Primulas, mainly
Barnhaven primrose and polyanthus in pots to provide a spring display on a
boundary/retaining wall and Primulas that produce farina on their leaves, these are
kept in a frame in order to retain this attractive feature. The beauty of growing
different Primulas is the long flowering season they provide. Some of the petiolarids
are flowering just after Christmas and the asiatics flowering July/August, P.capitata
being the last to flower with me. My favourites are the anomalous vernales primulas
derived from P.vulgaris, elatior and veris.
As a woodland plant fan, do you grow the Hepaticas, Pulmonarias and Erythroniums ? one
of my favourite woodlanders is Hacquetia epipactis.

Martin Froggatt.
