I have recently joined the Perennials mailing list and would like to
introduce myself. I live and garden in a small village here in
Derbyshire, England. I garden on an "improved" heavy soil overlying
sandstone. I grow a wide range of plants from high mountain dwellers to
woodlanders. I have a particular interest in the genus Primula and grow
many different species and hybrids of most sections. I enjoy raising
plants from seed obtained through the various societies to which I
belong namely the National Primula and Auricula Society, American
Primrose Society, Alpine Garden Society, Scottish Rock Garden Club and
the Royal Horticultural Society. Although these organisations have a
strong tradition in showing plants, I really consider myself more as a
plantsman rather than showman, and although I do grow many plants in
pots, I prefer to see them in the open garden.
