Don,
I remember the article that Consumer Reports had out. I had to laugh a
while at THAT report! I must only conclude that someone tipped off
Michigan Bulb and they sent out the only good plant they had.
I have the awful memory of how I was suckered into buying that $19.95
garden collection early in my gardening days. The whole collection came in
one small padded envelope that had the matchstick-sized "plants" bundled
together with twisty-ties like you get on your loaves of bread at the
grocery. Not one twig lived.
Of the tulip collection I ordered, perhaps 10 out of 50 at best bloomed.
The blooms on those tulips were so small and stunted that I was ashamed
that they were even in my yard. The rest of what came up was just foliage.
You get what you pay for.
