You have a kind and generous Mom. The tri-colored beech is sold here, was in
the family nursery for a few years as it is very pricey - so must be hardy.
Research that tree carefully as the native beeches and the European coppers,
etc. are HUGE trees that need a great deal of space to mature and look good.
They all have roots that lie on top of the ground and make mowing difficult.
I have never seen a mature tri-colored beech but imagaine it must be a
glorious thing. If you read enough British garden books, especially Verey
and Nichols, you will wonder how you could live without the copper beech. I
have always thought I would like one.
