Erigeron aureus "Canary Bird"

Erigeron aureus "Canary Bird" is almost at it's peak now. A
perfect plant for the dappled-shade, warm trough. The bright yellow
daisys with green disks are so different than the usual yelow disks. It
is surprisingly easy to grow in contrast to the E. "Grand Ridge".
Contrary to what I hve read, it thrives with a high ph. My tap water is
ph11. This is the second spring for my first plant and it is loaded
with 35 blooms.
My second favorite Erigeron is E. linearis, not to berate E.
"Grand Ridge"-I just can't grow it. This is an underrated plant,
perhaps because of not growing it in a sand bed in full sun. The
narrow, linear, hirsute leaves form an attractive tussock that goes well
with Eriogonums, Astragalus, Aethionemas, Arenaria hookeri and Atriplex.
I have grown an unknown Atriplex for the first time, I will
probably find the label later. It is totally hardy in a sand bed under
te overhang with no care at all. i t shimmeres like an ice plant. I
hope it wil produce seed!
