Hello there I'm new to this perennial list, as with most of you i
love gardening and perennials. To tell you a bit about myself, I'm from the
coast of British Columbia about an hour ferry ride north of Vancouver, on
an area of the coast called the Sunshine Coast. We do get more sun then
Vancouver and have excellent growing conditions here. This winter has been
very mild as well as this spring, but I feel like it's more like early
summer here now our cherry and plum trees are blooming now tulips, daff's
and others are up. It seems that every day that I go into my garden
something new has popped up over night. My work is low-maintenance and
energy-efficient landscape & garden design and installation. The coast is a
great place to garden , we are in a zone 7-9 we can reach micro climates of
zone 10 and grow bannanas in certain areas, our soil is acidic, with a
temperate rain forest. So we have lots of lush green growth throughout the
year, which is the reason I love it here, we can garden all year long if we
want.
I've been busy lately as we all have planting the crops for the
next season, the results have been good, now I just have to get my partener
planting veggies, he's learning gardening at this time and wants to be in
charge of the veggie garden, but I guess I will just have to give him a
little nuge to get moving on it or we wont have a veggie garden this
year.My children think I'm off the wall because I spend so much time in the
garden, but little do they realize that I work in it to get away from them
and enjoy the time I spend there. It's the way I relax in the busy days.
I've rambled on enough, but I do look forward to being involved on
this list and reading the postings as well as learning new pieces of
information from you all. Happy gardening to you all from the Sunshine
Coast.
